10 Ways to Jump Start Your Day

Before getting out of bed:

1. Express gratitude…
Take a moment to send a few mental thanks out into the world…for making it through another day, for family and friends, for your health, your job, a roof over your head, or any other situation. Realizing that you are already living in a blessed state helps to energize your day.

2. Tap the thymus:

The following three suggestions are adapted from Donna Eden’s book Energy Medicine and should be part of everyone’s daily routine to strengthen and energize the body. The thymus gland contributes to the development of a strong, healthy immune system. By tapping this area first thing in the morning and then several more times throughout the day, we keep this gland stimulated. So where is it?

thymus? Imagine Tarzan punching the center of his chest, what he was actually doing was activating his thymus before he went into action. Take a page from his book to start the energy that will flow into your day.

3. Rub the K-27 points:

K-27 points are very special points on the body! These points are also used in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to activate the energy system to flow in the right direction. K-27 will help strengthen the immune system, improve concentration and alertness. To find K-27 (which is the endpoint of the kidney meridian), place your fingers on the ends of your collarbone, then slide your fingers toward the center of your collarbone, then go down about an inch. You will feel a slight indentation. The points often hurt when first stimulated, but this lessens as they are worked on regularly. Tapping or rubbing these specific points will send a wake-up message to your brain to adjust your energy to make you feel more awake. Getting sleepy during an afternoon meeting with your boss? Work on these points!

4. Activate the spleen points:

These are neurolymphatic points on your spleen meridian, which like the two above will help strengthen the immune system, energize the body and balance blood chemistry. How can I locate these points? They are the depression between the 7th and 8th ribs, just below the level of the sternum or sternum. Move your hands under the breasts, just below the nipples, then move down over the next rib. Just like the points mentioned above, they can hurt when stimulated if not performed regularly.

Now get out of bed and get on with….

5. Dry brush the skin:

Before you jump in the shower, get into the habit of dry brushing your skin. This technique has many benefits such as helping with detoxification, stimulating circulation, increasing cell renewal, cleansing the lymphatic system and boosting immunity to name just a few. Using a brush with a long handle and natural bristles (no synthetics please!), start brushing the skin. Let the brush be dry, start from the feet and move towards the heart. Brush in a circular motion with strong movements, covering all parts of the body until you reach the heart area. Then start at the head and work your way down, again towards the heart, covering the rest of the body. When you’re done, the shower will be for cleansing, not for waking up.

6. Visualization of showering:

While you are physically washing yourself in the shower, try visualizing to clear the energy field that surrounds you (your aura) that contains psychic debris. Visualize the light passing through the shower head along with the water, I like to imagine a vivid purple light. As the light touches the body, imagine it burning away or transmuting any energetic waste clinging to your aura, the water will then wash away the subtle particles as they loosen their grip. At the end of the shower you feel very refreshed!

7. Oil on fire:

After you get out of the shower and now everyone is poking you from every previous step, apply one of the best skin conditioners – natural organic coconut oil. When applied topically to the skin, coconut oil helps keep the skin well hydrated, young, healthy and disease-free. Add coconut oil to your diet and watch the health benefits multiply. End the day by applying coconut oil to your skin in the evening

and your youthful appearance will be the envy of many.

8. Ditch Java:

Instead of starting your morning with a cup of coffee, replace it with a cup of hot water containing unfiltered apple cider vinegar and raw honey, 2 tablespoons each. It is important that this is organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in order to reap the health benefits. Although it may not sound appealing, it is not difficult to drink and becomes very likable. Some of the benefits include helping you become more regular by relieving constipation, improving skin texture, helping

in relieving rashes, plus it leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to go!

9. Have breakfast!

Defined: The act of creating a simple, easy, well-balanced, nutritious meal to start the day. Remember that this is the MOST important meal of the day. I fondly remember this by the following quote: “Breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord, and dine like a pauper.” Eating breakfast slows down general body functions such as metabolism and then stays low for the rest of the day, making it harder for your body to use the energy from the food you eat later.

10. Oxygenate your body

This seems so simple, but we tend to miss this so many times – take a deep breath. How many of you reading this right now are breathing in little shallow breaths? Come on, raise your hand, I know who you are! When you realize you need that extra burst of energy BREATHE! Inhale deeply for a slow count of 3, hold for a slow count of 3, exhale for a slow count of 3. Do this with focus and intention for a few minutes, then check your energy level again. If you did this right, you were able to start your day really quickly. With this deep breath you increase your vitality and at the same time reduce tension.
